There have been many changes since SAF broke ground on their first anodizing line in 1946. In 1946, most of their competitiors had not even begun operation. There are only four employees still working at SAF who worked for the company in the 1960's. The last man from the 1950's retired July 11, 1997. In those senses, the company is completely different. However, they are still owned and operated by the same family. SAF still serves many of the same customers. Their mission remains to provide quaility products and expert customer service. In 1990, Southern Aluminum Finishing Company, Inc.(SAF), bought a product line of commercial metal roof edge products from R.F. Mills Corporation, Inc. Frank Mills, the founder of R.F. Mills Corporation, continues to work as General Manager of Perimeter Systems, a division of SAF. Since 1990, Perimeter Systems has pioneered new products in the roofing industry, including their Designer Series Gutter and Cornice Systems.
